SoundFont and playback on Windows
MIDI playback needs external playback files
MIDI Manager does not bundle FluidSynth, SoundFonts or third-party audio files. To hear MIDI playback through SoundFont-based synthesis, choose a .sf2 or .sf3 file you are allowed to use.
On Windows, one practical test layout is:
FolderC:\soundfonts
SoundFont exampleC:\soundfonts\GeneralUser-GS.sf2
FluidSynth executableC:\soundfonts\fluidsynth.exe
If fluidsynth.exe is placed next to the selected SoundFont, MIDI Manager can look there even when FluidSynth is not available through the Windows PATH.
License responsibility:
MusicNote Haven does not provide SoundFonts, FluidSynth downloads, MIDI/KAR files, Gotek firmware or third-party audio files. Only use external files whose license and source you have checked yourself.
GeneralUser GS
A compact GM/GS SoundFont by S. Christian Collins. Check the current download page and included license before use.
Open GeneralUser GS page
Use licensed files only
Some SoundFonts on the internet include samples with unclear origin or personal-use restrictions. Only use files whose license fits your purpose.
Windows setup
After choosing the SoundFont in Settings, test playback with one file first before starting longer listening sessions.
No bundled MIDI files
MusicNote Haven does not sell or distribute .mid, .midi or .kar song files.
